On October 4, 2026, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo presided over a special Mass celebrating the 75th anniversary of St. Pius X Church.
In his homily, Cardinal Leo reflected on three essential pillars of parish life: faith, family and community. He reminded those gathered of the importance of forgiveness and drew on the words of the Lord’s Prayer. His message offered a timely reminder that a vibrant Christian community is built not only on shared faith, but also on compassion, reconciliation and love for one another.
Following the Mass, attendees gathered for a reception organized by the Catholic Women’s League. The assembled were treated to a performance on keyboard by one of the parishioners, Mike Boguski, a member of the Blue Rodeo band. Mr. Boguski played a classical piece which he had composed in dedication to his mother. The presence of both the current pastor, Fr. Massillamani Zacharias, and former pastor, Fr. Brian Shea, reflected the continuity of pastoral care and the enduring bonds that unite the parish family. A specially prepared booklet containing the history of St. Pius X as a saint, and as a church, was distributed to everyone present.
Parishioners who have been part of St. Pius X for 50 years or more were honoured for their longstanding connection to the community and joined Cardinal Leo as he cut the anniversary cake.
The celebration was a meaningful and heartfelt milestone in the life of the parish, bringing together parishioners, clergy and guests to give thanks for 75 years of faith, fellowship and service.
